Artist Statement
Bushland Intimacy is a silent video, where the artist allows the wind to dictate the movement of a white, frill-edged curtain to entice the viewer to enter the valley that Jessie Hickman called home. The wind sighs and gusts to activate the fabric at will; which it lifts to reveal and drops to become a screen. These actions reveal partially obscured symbols of domesticity, femininity and inhabitation all nestled within the landscape. Holding on, then gently releasing, the wind communes with the curtain in a mesmeric choreography of light, flight and the passing of time.
