The Carousel of Invisibility (video)

Artist Statement
The Carousel of Invisibility is set in a collapsing forest shaped by the wind. A carousel of fallen trees partially obscures the floating head of a woman. A bust of a woman supported by dead trees. A ghost of a woman making eye contact with the viewer. Her head bows and is caught in her hands as the forest quietly and gently changes around her. Lichen settles on the woman’s face as her head lifts to look along a dead branch to where the first horse of the carousel appears. Parading horses full of light gradually become steadfast, buckjumping horses; only to transform further into an evocative beast reminiscent of the horse-men of Jean Cocteau. This video piece is constructed with in-camera double exposures on black-and-white-film, a few pieces of AI black-and-white generated photography and colour digital video.

This video artwork is the title piece for the 2025 solo exhibition.
