The Commemoration: Julie & Jessie Falling Together in Time
Artist Statement
Synchronicity brought Julie and Jessie together in 2015 via a mobile phone photograph captured by Julie at the Kandos Museum. The museum display of interest was Jessie’s hideout in a cave, complete with a cardboard cutout of her wearing her 1905 champion buckjumping outfit. In 2020 when viewing slides from 1992 in her archive, Julie’s curiosity was piqued with a strong desire to find the phone photograph. Collaging herself into the cave beside Jessie, the pair continue to fall through time, enjoying their telepathy, their surprise matching outfits and the shared love of horses.
